Ren’s Optimization Research Honored! - June 20, 2018

Xiaoqi Ren

Resnick Fellow and recent graduate Xiaoqi Ren PhD won the Bhansali Family Dissertation Prize in Computer Science, awarded by computer science faculty -AND the 2018 Demetriades-Tsafka-Kokkalis Prize in Benign Renewable Energy Sources or Related Fields, awarded annually to a PhD candidate for the best thesis, publication, discovery or related efforts made in the category.

Xiaoqi’s PhD research and Resnick project investigated optimization of large scale data centers. Working in Professor Adam Wierman's Group, she focused on development of algorithms and markets to encourage data centers to participate in demand response programs, that allow them to serve as virtual energy storage for the grid. Her prize winning thesis is titled, “Optimizing Resource Management in Cloud Analytics Services”.
