Resnick Postdoctoral Scholar Zhu Liu Named One of World's Top 25 Green Talents
November 3, 2016
Resnick Postdoctoral Scholar Zhu Liu was one of 25 young scientists invited to participate in the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research's (BMBF) Green Talents initiative for high-potential early career researchers in the field of sustainable development.
The Green Talents cohort participates in a ten-day science forum and research stay in Germany, where they visit research institutes across the country. The following year, they return to Germany to conduct three-months of fully funded research at the institute of their choosing.
At the Resnick Institute, Lui works in partnership with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab to trace global carbon emissions of mega cities using satellite data. He aims to construct carbon emission distributions with high spatial and temporal resolutions to help the scientific community better understand the scale of human activity and to provide an alternative, politically-neutral source of information.
