The Caltech Sustainable Vehicle Club was founded in fall 2014 and has big plans for promoting sustainability through their explorations in the design and building of sustainable vehicles.
The club’s inaugural project is to transform two defunct go-carts into EVs –one battery powered and the other a fuel cell vehicle. The club also aims to establish a sustainable vehicle event at the Rose Bowl featuring an EV go-cart race and a sustainable vehicle expo for club sponsors and clean transportation related organizations. They’re also planning on bringing in speakers, entertainment and more!
The go-cart project will serve as a foundational exercise for the club’s long-term goal of participating in the national SAE Formula E Collegiate Design Competition. In this competition, student teams design, build and test the performance of a real EV vehicle.
The club is actively seeking sponsorship support and mentors. Please reach out to club president, Rob Anderson to learn more. Students: contact Rob to get in on the action!
