The Resnick Sustainability Institute supports a diverse community of outstanding talent dedicated to finding real-world solutions to global energy, climate, and ecology challenges.
Caltech has a proven track record of success in solving difficult, global scientific problems and translating fundamental discoveries into breakthrough technologies.
Our researchers are making progress on developing materials and systems for renewable energy generation, storage, conversion and distribution. They are developing ways to measure the movement of water through the natural and built environment, and to treat waste water and contaminated water so it can be used for human consumption.
They are measuring changes to the earth’s climate, predicting the effects of climate change, and developing ways to reverse the worst of the damage. They are also developing tools for understanding the complex interactions between soil microbes, plants, and global biogeochemical cycles, and applying those tools to improve the health of the biosphere.
