Carlos G. Read
Profile
Alumni Resnick Postdoctoral Fellow 2016
Carlos was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He obtained his undergraduate degrees in chemistry and physics from Utah State University in 2011. For his graduate studies, he moved to Penn State where he obtained his PhD in chemistry in 2016 under the supervision of Prof. Raymond E. Schaak. At Penn State, he worked on the synthesis and characterization of heterostructured nanoparticles with an emphasis on catalytic and photocatalytic applications. At Caltech, his research focused on developing new heterogeneous electrocatalysts for energy-relevant reactions, such as carbon dioxide reduction, hydrogen evolution, and oxygen evolution, which are promising routes for the production of renewable chemicals and fuels.
Carlos is currently a scientist with Exponent Consulting
