Linqi graduated from Caltech with a PhD in computing and mathematical sciences. He received his BSc degree in mathematics and BEng degree in information engineering from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, where he was a Prof. Charles K. Kao Fellow. At Caltech, his research focused on the application of spectral graph theory to studying the fundamental mathematical and network structures in integrating renewable energy generation and smart devices to the power system. His work has revealed novel control and communication mechanisms that can improve existing system performance by orders of magnitude. He believes a combination of materials science and rigorous system design will be the key to shaping future grid operation, with optimal energy efficiency and environmental friendliness. He hopes this work can pave the way in transforming our grid into one that is green, reliable, autonomous and smart.
Linqi was awarded the Demetriades-Tsafka-Kokkalis Prize in Environmentally Benign Renewable Energy Sources for his work on the development of real-time failure mitigation in power systems.
Linqi is currently a Software Engineer for a startup in stealth mode.
